He says: "It's hard, of course, to confine myself to just one. Should I name a revered icon (Italo Calvino, William Maxwell), a brilliant newcomer (Peter Orner, Kelly Link), a childhood favorite (Daniel Pinkwater)? I'm going to go with an obscure master, though, and say Augusto Monterroso." Who are these people?Dadnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9176707597013847097.post-28651569901343549922012-04-26T16:14:08.063-04:002012-04-26T16:14:08.063-04:00Marsha was recommending The Artist's Way. I'll let you know if I have any writing epiphanies. :)Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9176707597013847097.post-68899811284836083232012-04-26T09:34:55.288-04:002012-04-26T09:34:55.288-04:00What was the sixth Biblical story? What was the sixth Biblical story?Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9176707597013847097.post-8380286298333791942012-04-25T00:24:37.695-04:002012-04-25T00:24:37.695-04:00Sometimes I wonder if the pain of wanting to be in...Sometimes I wonder if the pain of wanting to be inspired can function as inspiration.

Or as someone (that Julia whats-her-name who wrote The Artist's Way) wrote, jealousy. Jealousy is a great inspirer too. I know that when I read your stuff, or Eileen's, or Marsha's (or you know, other famous people's) I get a little jealous. Makes me wanna be a better artist. Or just be any kind of artist at all, which is better than nothing.

Love the way you 'review'. (...Sounds like it was a great experience, over all! (I think David & Bathsheba should be added to the Bible stories list). My mother the writer embarrassed me on a regular basis (have I ever shared her PTA poem with you?), but I have somehow survived and still adore her. I do discuss pre-publication with my own kids, however!M Haaghttp://www.theretiringsort.comnoreply@blogger.com
